ONLINE SCAM USING PHISHING

Phishing is the attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details through deceptive emails or websites.






Phishing in details

  •  Phishing is a technique where hackers / cyber criminals send scam/spam messages through email/text messages.                         
  • They claim themselves  genuine institutions or entities
  • They send various fake offers or prizes through email or messages like whatsapp /instagram /facebook .
  •  At the end they give a link , where they tell to click the link in order to get the prize/offer.
  • The link redirects/takes you to a fraud website, that asks you some details like user personal information, bank details, or sometimes even credit card details. If you give your sensitive details, that you shouldn’t give , the hackers/cyber criminals may misuse.
  •   Sometimes The hackers in order to show their website genuine ,they even try to make it look genuine. They try to look and feel their website genuine. Even some hackers smartly tell you to login with your facebook or gmail account. To make it look genuine, they provide a page totally looking same as facebook or gmail . normal people can’t recognize the trap ,they try to login using userid ,password ,thinking genuine one, but as u give your details , secretly that data goes to the hackers in background without you even knowing.

How to know if a webpage is fake/phishing page ?
 
There are some some ways to identify whether a page is a fake page or not …

1.   Always look at the address bar of the webpage , where url of any website, we can see. ( On the above example url address is not facebook.com , its www.accesscode7.blogspot.com)

2.   The social network sites / email pages , before the url address, there is https written before ( HTTPS means secure website or there is a lock like symbol there on the web-browser  near the address bar)

3.   If any doubt comes, then call to the original company or institution or company ,the hackers claiming to be .The original company officials can clear your doubts if any, directly talk to the customer care or officials.
